A PLACE TO LIVE AND PLAY
Plano, a name that hardly describes what this city is all about!
To be fair, the name was coined in 1850 by pioneers from Kentucky and Tennessee who settled in Plano in order to take advantage of government land grants. Plano was thought to mean “plain” in Spanish. In 1872, railroads linked Plano to Dallas and Houston. Plano then grew into larger farms and cattle ranches. In 1960, the construction of Central Expressway promised continued growth and prosperity.
Since that time, accessibility has increased providing ease of enjoying the many venues of entertainment, access to major sports teams, health care, excellent schools, bike paths, nature walks, parks , awesome dog parks and well. Pretty much everything is available in Plano, anything on your “must have” list – anything you and your family love to do, you can do in Plano and in style.
Plano is the 9th largest city in Texas with a population north of 260,000 residents and located within 19 miles of downtown Dallas. It is a vibrant city great for adults, children and pets. A place to call home. A small place with lots of heart.
Plano has maintained a reputation for being a family friendly city.
So, what about business? Is Plano just an awesome city to live in? Nope. Plano has a resume replete with some of the most impressive companies in the country and in the world.
Consider that these are companies that have moved to Plano from elsewhere anticipating that the expense and inconvenience of moving their companies are well offset by the advantages of doing business here and giving their employees all the advantages of living here.
Plano hosts many companies employing over 1000 people. These include Alcatel-Lucent, Bank of America Home Loans, Capital One, CIGNA, Dell Services, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Ericsson, Frito-Lay, HP Enterprise Services, Intel Security, JCPenney, Medical Center Plano, PepsiCo, Texas Presbyterian Hospital Plano.
But there’s even more great news -- TOYOTA is coming!
They chose Plano when they could have gone anywhere in this country. Toyota is being joined by numerous other companies attracted to Plano’s business environment and the many available amenities provided their employees. It’s just a great place to live!
