Addison, the place to be for fun and people watching. Once called Peters Colony, Addison was later named after the community’s postmaster in 1902. Unlike most of the cities in Collin County, Addison was not created by the movement of settlers from other parts of the country. Instead it was created when a cabin was built near White Rock Creek. Addison’s first industry was a cotton gin which helped develop the area to the town it is today.
The major portion of Addison is located on Beltline Road. Addison was one of the few cities willing to allow liquor stores and the serving of alcoholic beverages in restaurants. This in fact gave Addison the distinction of having one of the largest concentrations of restaurants in the metroplex.
Addison has grown to a town that understands both the value of providing the best restaurants and entertainment with a quaint lifestyle as provided by Addison Circle. This is a community of apartments, condominiums and townhomes which are more or less self-contained providing eateries and markets for local residents. Old world feel with new construction advantages. Addison also hosts one of the largest displays of fireworks in July. Along with the taste of Addison and other similar activities gives Addison big city fun with small town charm.
